The Right Skills
The Medical Assisting with Limited X-Ray advanced diploma program starts with the core foundation of medical assisting and adds
a concentration of Limited X-Ray skills.
This program provides students with the skills required to successfully assist physicians
and medical group practices with a number of clinical tasks including:
- Medical imaging of the chest and extremities
- Performing electrocardiographs
- Administering medications
- Vital sign measurement
- Assisting with surgical procedures
- Phlebotomy
- Assisting with physical examinations
- Patient education
- Basic medical office procedures

- Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools
- Certified by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia
Extensive Hands-On Clinical Experience
Upon completion of all theory and laboratory coursework, students will be required to complete a 220 hour externship at a local healthcare facility that employs Medical Assistants with Limited X-ray training.

The Medical Assisting core program is available both days and evenings. The Limited X-Ray concentration courses will be available during the evening session.
Day/Evening Combined: 55 Weeks including 220 hours of hands-on clinical experience
Evenings Only: 74 Weeks including 220 hours of hands-on clinical experience

Clinical coursework includes: Basic and Advanced Clinical and Patient Care Procedures, Diagnostic and Laboratory Procedures, First Aid, CPR, Minor Surgical Assisting, Administrative Office Procedures, and Clinical Pharmacology, Positioning, Medical Imaging |

Get Your Credentials
Graduates with a GED or High School Diploma will be eligible for the following certifications:
- RMA - Registered Medical Assistant Exam (American Medical Technologists)
- CMA - Certified Medical Assistant Exam (American Association of Medical Assistants)
- RPT - Registered Phlebotomy Technician (International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences or the American Medical Technologists)
- Limited License X-Ray Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia (Chest, Abdomen, and the Extremities)
