

The Associate of Occupational Science Medical Assisting with Limited X-Ray program is designed to provide entry-level medical assisting and medical imaging skills necessary to begin a career in the allied health field; in addition to providing students a strong and basic foundation in general education.
Upon successful completion of the programs, graduates will:
The Medical Assisting with Limited X-Ray Program is comprised of three phases.
Complete the core Medical Assisting component of the program during either day or evening sessions at any of the three ACT College locations.
Complete the required general education courses to satisfy the program and accrediting agency requirements. All students must complete English Composition I, General Psychology, and Basic College Mathematics, or its equivalent.
Complete the 240 hours of required didactic and laboratory training in basic medical imaging. Coursework focuses on imaging of the chest and extremities and satisfies requirements to become eligible for limited licensing in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Upon completion of all residential coursework, students will complete a 220-hour externship at a local area healthcare facility with x-ray services to completely satisfy all program requirements for the conferral of an AOS degree.
